photos of Deidre, with Deidre
30 sec exp, using 690
Deidre walks around in front of the camera during the exposure and discovers she is invisible.
Then she waits and stands to see what the difference looks like.
Next she walks around holding the camera during the thirty second exposure.
Finally Dee makes a couple more exposures, photographing the roses on the wall and the flowers in the lawn

playing out back
April 8, 05
5:15 p.m.
break in the storm
out back
Phillip shooting with his bow and arrows, near the end of the exposure he walked to the target but was still caught on film.
I ask him to pose and he appears more recognizable.

color pinhole
April 4, 2005
afternoon at home
decided to put color film in the pinhole and see what happens
Took a picture of the bughouse. While I was exposing a jet flew overhead, I was waiting in the warm sun. Sort of a bug's view of suburbia. The color does funny things but I like that - I was hoping it would put a different spin on things.
Funny colored Polaroids give me a nostalgic feeling - takes me back to my childhood. Life wasn't really any simpler or easier then, but my perspective made it so.
Swingset
Bugs buzz by, birds chirp in somebody else's yard, a car starts and idles at at low rumble.
Birds go quiet, I hear a big prop plane come in for a landing, another smaller one drones in the distance, but all I see is a turkey vulture.
I want to see more in my shadows so I decide to make a second exposure, increase from one minute to two. So I start, look at my watch, notice a bird that suddenly bursts from a bush nearby then look at my watch - has it been one minute or two so far? Hmmm, well, more is better so let's wait another minute and see.
Quiet spring afternoon out front - a single toddler's voice floats down the street, another car starts & idles, little breeze rustles leaves and barely makes a wind chime tink.
The first photos I ever took were with a pinhole camera made out of a 110 film cartridge in the sixth grade.
I don't really remember making the camera or why we did it in school - maybe we didn't need a reason then - but I remember the images I made and how exciting it was.
How long will it take to make an exposure of the clean dishes in the dishwasher? I think I'll try five minutes - wonder what the long time and flourescent lights will do to the color... As long as I can keep the dog away from the camera, I think it'll be okay. The camera just sits there on the step stool in the middle of the kitchen floor, soaking it all in. Good thing the kids aren't home from school yet. Hmm, has that been five minutes, or four - guess I'll let it go another...
Five minutes is obviously not enough.
Not a big deal, now I see as still life on the table, so I start with a 16 minute exposure.
Getting better but not sure I want to continue this. Maybe another try in the dining room where the light is better.
Took the flowers to the dining room and start a 30 minute exposure.
Actual exposure time: 1 hour, 15 minutes - I forgot about it! But it doesn't seem to have hurt... okay, so much for that experiment.
This is more like it - boys try to stand still for 45 second exposure. The neighbor takes out the garbage and is invisible.
