Additive process

After working on several new shadow box pieces, I was looking at a piece from December hanging on the studio wall. It suddenly seemed very empty and I realized that it needed more in it. (I also seem to remember that a close artist friend said something like that to me at the time, but it was already being exhibited and I figured I'd just apply the concept to new work, which I have.) So I started adding to the pice and this is where it's at right now, much better, maybe finished, but I'll live with it a little longer before I decide for sure...

A little collection

I've been saving a few bird's nests for a while now, I told a photographer friend he could use one, now I have to decide which one...

From top left, there's a swallow's nest, a robin's nest, maybe another robin', then a bushtit's and three I have no idea about.

Studio time

Spending some time in the studio, while my daughter does a little art class homework, too...

Next up

Making progress on the shadow box artworks on my work table right now. I'm the features artist at the Kennedy next month, so I'm trying to get our a few new pieces before I start on this year's 20/20, which I am VERY excited about!

Last night I finishes one of the pieces I've been working on and just need to put hanging hardware on another. These three are in process on the table and there's another in process in my mind...

 

All lined up

Getting a chance to work this morning and making progress on the pieces on my worktable. From left to right, I'm thinking of calling the first one 'Time to Come Home' and I'm really liking the little mannequin, so I'll have to find more of those. The next one might get called 'Somewhere' but I really don't know, it's certainly a process. Then maybe 'Words of Wisdom' for the next, for the fortune cookie fortunes in it. Finally I think it'll be 'Road Map Home' and I'll have to tell that story later...

Holding pattern

Had a busy week last week, got a fair amount done, but now I'm itching to get back to the work table and being called to get other things done, like paying bills and prepping for class... Meanwhile art in progress calls to me from the work table.

Art delivery

I had the privilege today to deliver and install a piece of artwork to a new client. "Reunion" is now in a counselor's office at Cross Creek Family Counseling, where it can be enjoyed by many patients. I pray that it truly helps people heal from the hurts of this world.

I got a full tour and they have an art room and employ other creative methods of therapy so important for children and adults alike. I'm proud to be a small part of helping others and I'm so pleased to know so many will be able to enjoy my artwork.
