on the work table

Working on new 3D pieces for "Where Your Heart Is" after class today; click on an image to see it bigger and try to identify all the stuff you see...

Bits and pieces of three different artworks in progress here -plus some tools and extraneous bits as well - signs of a divergent thinker at work...

This second shot shows a better view of the two that are farther along in the process - the upwards facing box in the foreground will be wall mounted & have a branch (in the background) inserted into it. The cigar box to the back left will be free standing and have a fork (sitting on the lamp base) in it along with a tiny ceramic piece.

I am having so much fun...

staffordshire sketch

A sketch of my favorite breed, the Staffordshire bull terrier; this is a sweet rescue dog who recently found her forever home. She looked so happy and contented in this classic Stafford pose, I just had to sketch her.

work installed

So pleased to be able to deliver and install "Refuge" today. It looks right at home, as it should...

commission accomplished

Got this piece all finished - except for some edge work & varnish - it's title is "Refuge" - it depicts the client's personal refuge, her backyard...

coming along

After getting through the first couple weeks of the semester, I was ready to get back to the big commission piece sitting in the studio... thankfully, my client is patient and understanding. ;) (click on an image to see it larger)

Tuesday I got all the collage & texture work finished, so it was ready to start the colored pencil work on Wednesday morning.

Though in it's final stages artwork gets the "be careful, don't touch" treatment, it becomes it's own table at this stage when it's this big, anyway. You can see how some of the photo details are getting color now and how I'm starting to pull the photos together into one fluid image.

Thursday was class & art showing, so today I got back to it, finished up the pencil work & got a shot before I started applying paint. Here you can see the pencil drawings that underlay the painting.

How it stands at the end of the day - coming along nicely, I think. It will get more layers of paint glazes, a little more collage and some caran d'ache before it's done...
