afternoon in my backyard
very warm, sunny, light high clouds, light breeze
forecast high is 90ish
May Day and cactus is blooming - right now three large white blossoms are beginning to wilt - they were bright and fresh just hours ago, tomorrow they will be gone. Another single bud promises to open soon, probably within days.
The lavender trumpet vine is also just past the prime of bloom - last weekend it was full of fresh lovely flowers, now there are fewer flowers and several slowly falling from the vine.
The dog lays and pants on the lawn, occasionally chewing on a stick, then lazily gets up to take a new spot in the shade.
I decide to follow the dog's lead and move into the shade, just as the air conditioner comes on, confirming the above-normal temperature. Normal range would be 15-20 degrees cooler. The pool is certainly inviting...
